News Articles 23 Aug 2004 Update on H-1B Numbers We have learned that US Citizenship and Immigration Services has received 40,000 H-1B applications which, if approved, will be subject to the 2005 H-1B fiscal limit, which begins October 1, 2004. Of this 40,000, approximately 21,000 have been approved already. The annual limit is 65,000 H-1B's per year. However, due to a recent change in the law, and an allocation of certain H-1B's to the Chile/Singapore Free Trade Agreement, that leaves 58,200 H-1B's which are available beginning October 1st. Unless a change in the law is passed, we believe that we will clearly run out of H-1B's well before January 2005, which would mean no new H-1B's are available until October 1, 2005.
